2022 Canadian Grand Prix: Verstappen Wins, Hamilton Fourth

Max Verstappen and Red Bull proved the form book correct with victory in the 2022 Canadian Grand Prix

The Dutchman led home teammate Sergio Perez in a one-two finish at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve

The victory was Verstappen's sixth from eight races in 2022 and extended his championship lead.

Ferrari's Carlos Sainz Jr. finished third, ahead of seven-time Canadian GP winner Lewis Hamilton, who was fourth after a late push when he briefly grabbed third.

The race was full of drama, with three safety cars and numerous retirements. Fernando Alonso's Alpine ended up on its side after a collision with Lance Stroll's Aston Martin, while Yuki Tsunoda's AlphaTauri and Esteban Ocon's Alpine also failed to finish.

The victory was a much-needed one for Verstappen and Red Bull after a disappointing Monaco Grand Prix, where they finished third and fourth.

The win also gives Verstappen a 46-point lead in the championship standings, with Perez second and Hamilton third.
